Dr. BrianPierre Fentress
He grew up in Detroit, Michigan, in a family where music was not background noise. It was the language of the house. Gospel was the foundation. Church was the training ground. By the time he was old enough to leave, he already knew that music would take him far.
It took him to Poland.
Who He Is
What started as a journey to serve ended up becoming a life. Over two decades in Europe, Dr. Fentress built something rare, an artistic identity that is rooted in Black American gospel tradition and fully at home on the international stage. He is not an export. He is a presence.
Detroit shaped his ear. Adversity shaped his heart. Poland sharpened his craft. Love shaped his sound.
The Work
He conducts. He teaches. He composes, arranges, and performs. He holds academic appointments at AMUZ Łódź and the University of Zielona Góra, leads gospel choir workshops across Europe, and produces music under two distinct artistic identities. Over 250 workshops across the continent. Over 1,000 voices in a single room in Poznań.
His forthcoming publication, The Art of Gospel Choir Conducting, names what he has been practicing for two decades. It is not a theory book. It is a methodology built in real rehearsal rooms with real choirs under real pressure.
He has shared stages and studios with Fred Hammond, Kirk Franklin, and KAYAH, to name a few. He was a 2017 finalist on The Voice of Poland. His voice appears in film soundtracks and major television productions, and music on stages and in musical theaters.
The World
He has made Warsaw home. Over two decades he has woven himself into the cultural fabric of Poland and the broader European gospel community in a way that few international artists have managed. His academic appointments, his workshops, and his recordings have positioned him at a rare intersection: scholar, practitioner, and performer all in one.
The community that has grown around his work spans conductors, choral directors, gospel musicians, and music industry professionals across multiple countries. They come back every year not because of a brand. They come back because of him. The Fentress Experience is not a marketing term. It is exactly what it sounds like.
“I don’t teach people to sing. I show them how to communicate the soul through song… and mean it!”
