MEET DR. BRIAN FENTRESS

Dr. Brian Fentress, Professor of Music at the Academy of Music in Łódź, Poland, is an experienced educator and artist who consistently performs throughout Europe while simultaneously working as an academic professor at the Academy of Music in Łódź.

He received his habilitation in vocal performance from the Academy of Music in Łódź (2019) and his PhD in artistic conducting from the Academy of Music in Gdańsk (2014). She also holds a master’s degree in teacher education from the University of Phoenix (2006) and a bachelor’s degree in music business from Alabama A&M University (2003).

Dr. Fentress specializes in conducting choral workshops and consultations in Poland and abroad. He has over 200 such events to his credit, during which he inspires and supports the development of young musicians. He has collaborated with such prominent artists as Aretha Franklin, Kirk Franklin, Fred Hammond, Kayah, Zbigniew Wodecki, Maryla Rodowicz, Edyta Górniak, Natalia Niemen, Mietek Szcześniak, TGD, and many more.

As a soloist with vocal ensembles, he has participated in numerous concerts and artistic projects. He gained recognition as a finalist on The Voice of Poland (2018), as well as through performances at the TVN New Year’s Eve concert (2019), the soundtrack of the film Silent Twins (2022), and the Christmas concert at the NOSPR (2020). His musical output includes singles such as ‘Pillow Talk’ and ‘Temporary Love’ (2023), the EPK ‘Dawning’ (2023), and the recording ‘Live at the Rock Opera Praha’ (2018), which formed the basis for the musical ‘Nebsa.’

In 2023, he co-authored the book Teaching Jazz: History, Theory, and Practice, which presents his original ‘Fentress conducting method,’ offering an innovative perspective on vocal education.
